The Ministry of Health collects data about cases of COVID-19 and testing in New Zealand.
You can get data on:
- any confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19
- the number of people who have recovered
- how many people are and have been in hospital
- cases by district health board (DHB), and by age and gender.
A cluster is a group of 10 or more COVID-19 cases that are linked because the people were in the same place together.
COVID-19 modelling reports
The Ministry of Health publishes a series of modelling reports which help understand the future health impact of COVID-19 in New Zealand.
Testing data in New Zealand
The Ministry of Health provides a daily update on a range of statistics for New Zealand including the number of tests completed each day and over the previous 7 days.
The Ministry of Health is also recording tests by region and by ethnicity within regions. This gives us an accurate picture of the country’s recovery from COVID-19 and how to continue to respond in the best way. It also helps keep track of who is being tested, including vulnerable communities or at risk groups with underlying health conditions.
