Plan to respond to new COVID-19 cases in the community
Ongoing elimination will remain the Government’s strategy for dealing with COVID-19 to keep New Zealanders safe and support New Zealand’s continued economic recovery.
New cases in the community are a realistic possibility given that the global situation has deteriorated significantly.
The “Stamp it Out” plan is part of a range of measures the Government is taking to keep New Zealanders safe while also ensuring we are able to keep the economy moving.
Our public health measures of personal hygiene, testing, contact tracing, and isolation will be the core of our response to new cases of community transmission.
The existing Alert Levels framework will be used but adapted to the specific circumstances, including applying the Alert Levels at a regional or local level.
The “Stamp it Out” plan for responding to new cases includes several scenarios and their impacts on individuals, businesses, and other organisations such as schools.
