When you get vaccinated, you’re not just protecting yourself but also your aiga, friends, churches and community. The vaccine is free and available to everyone aged 16 and over. It will help to protect Aotearoa from COVID-19.

Vaccination for Pacific Peoples

The Government has a plan to roll-out vaccinations for everyone in New Zealand and has put people into one of four groups. Some Pacific Peoples are included in Group 2 who are currently being vaccinated.

Group 2 — currently being vaccinated

You are in this group if you:

  • are a high-risk frontline healthcare and disability worker, as you are at greater risk of getting COVID-19, or spreading it to people most at risk
  • work in a long-term residential environment or live in long-term residential care and are 16 or over, as people working in long-term residential environments or living in long-term residential care have a higher risk of catching or spreading COVID-19 and getting very sick or dying
  • live with or care for an older Māori or Pacific person or are an older Māori or Pacific person being cared for by whānau, as you are more at risk of getting very sick from COVID-19
  • live in the Counties Manukau DHB area and are 65 or over, have an underlying health condition or disability, are pregnant, or are in a custodial setting.
