Mandatory vaccinations for border and MIQ workers
On 1 May 2021, the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 made it a requirement for a narrow group of border workers and Government officials working at the border or an MIQ facility to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
From 15 July 2021, it also became a legal requirement for border workers in certain roles to be vaccinated. This is required by the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Amendment Order 2021.
Vaccines commonly administered overseas are now recognised for border workers that need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If a worker has had a full course of Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen or Pfizer, they can work on or around the border.
